Recent Projects

Since DL Consulting was founded in 2006, we have completed a variety of projects in different disciplines. Some representitive examples include:

Utility Design Software Training

Training ImageBased on an ad-hoc training provided by the software team, DL Consulting designed a modern course curriculum and built core training materials for an advanced utility design software product.

The resulting three day training, designed for new users,includes lectures and exercises providing details on core product concepts, background information, in-depth step-by-step workflows, and configuration settings.

Reseller e-Learnings

eLearning-ExampleDL Consulting was responsible for developing the curriculum, and creating a series of comprehensive e-Learning courses to educate a major software vendor's reseller channel on how their product could be applied in seven different industries, such as mining, electric utilities, and land planning. DL Consulting's knowledge of both advanced courseware design combined with a solid understanding of engineering and technology allowed us to work efficiently with our client's product SMEs to create a unique and effective training product.

The resulting e-Learnings combined both narrated slide content, innovative slide graphics with animations to explain key concepts, interactive e-Learning elements, and modular tests to ensure that students retained the material in each lesson.

CAD Efficiency Study

ProcessSlide1DL Consulting served as the primary domain and content expert for a large government CAD efficiency study. This included interviews with team members and project stakeholders as well as a review of existing processes, standards, and systems. The final result was a set of seven recommendations that covered process improvements, management system design, content communications, and CAD standards upgrades. The client is now staging and implementing all of the recommendations.

Marketing Whitepaper and Presentation

White paper presentation exampleDL Consulting helped a major software vendor expanding into the federal market to better position their solution, clarify the architecture in customer terms, and provide key sales materials including a detailed whitepaper and a "C-level" presentation on the solution targeted to this new market.

Not only did the final result meet the core project needs, but the presentation material has been releveraged by our client for expanding sales opportunities in a number of areas.

Development Process Assessment

A midsize software and consulting services provider providing production line optimization solutions engaged DL Consulting to review their development process and identify opportunities for improvement, both directly associated with development as well as activities that affected development productivity, delivery, and quality.

The result was a comprehensive report identifying both areas where improvements could be made, as well as areas of misconception where concerns were not warranted. Our client is now implementing these recommendations to improve operations and help ensure long term staff retention and job satisfaction.

Competitive Pricing Analysis

DL Consulting was retained by a SF Bay Area software vendor to develop an analysis of competitor pricing. In particular, the analysis needed to focus on price tiering, maintenance pricing strategy, upsell strategies, and concurrent product usage. In addition, many issues relating to pricing were considered in the analysis, ranging from licensing details, language versions, packaging, bundling, site pricing, and loyalty programs.

The result was a detailed document that included not only answers to key questions, but extensive data compiled from a variety of web and product sources, useful for future analysis.
